A Tree is Life

A Tree is Life

Inspired by an autumn hike in the Eastern Townships, this piece pays homage to trees.  I used cottons, tulle, paint, and hand applique.  The tiny leaves are cut and fused to the background, swirling around the appliqued and painted trunk, covered in tulle and quilted by hand.  I call it “A Tree is Life”  representing all that a tree is.  On display at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte, Ontario from June 23 to August 18, 2012.
